$6 million in COVID relief grants awarded to Prince William nonprofits

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – This week, the Prince William County government and the Human Services Alliance announced their first round of COVID relief grants. The first round of grants will award $6,000,000 to 33 different nonprofit organizations in the county.

“As we enter this next phase of recovery from the pandemic, we hope to address some of the lasting impacts on our community,” Ann Wheeler, chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, said in a press release. “Many of the recipients chosen by the Greater Prince William Alliance address these impacts while continuing to support our community in the future.”

The funds are part of $10,000,000 granted to Prince William County by the American Rescue Plan Act. The county plans to administer all funds by 2024.

“While our previous grantmaking programs have focused on helping with COVID-19, we look forward to focusing on the longer-term needs of our community by investing in more sustainable interventions,” said Chelsi Conaway, executive director of the Human Services Alliance.
