The FIDO Alliance, which develops and promotes authentication standards designed to help reduce password dependency, unveiled user experience guidelines and further enhancements to FIDO2 standards, said Andrew Shikiar, executive director.

“What we looked at was not only how to implement the FIDO specifications, but what is the right message to encourage a user to opt for FIDO authentication and what are the right visual cues,†says Shikiar.
Shikiar hopes that a majority of mainstream services will allow users to log in without a password within a few years. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re making a lot of progress,†he says.
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Shikiar explains:
- the latest FIDO initiatives;
- How companies have changed their approach to identity monitoring and management since the switch to remote working;
- FIDO’s progress so far and the gaps to be filled.
Shikiar is the Executive Director and Chief Marketing Officer of the FIDO Alliance, a global consortium that works to create open standards and an interoperable ecosystem for easier and stronger user authentication. Previously, he led market development efforts for the Tizen Association, the LiMo Foundation, and the Liberty Alliance Project.
