Jindal Vijayanagar Airport welcomes new Alliance Air flights to Hyd, Bangalore

JSW The group’s Jindal Vijayanagar Airport in Torangallu on Sunday opened for new Alliance Air flight operations to Hyderabad and Bangalore under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).

The Hyderabad flight was reported by Senior Guest E Tukaram, MLA, Sandur, Guest of Honor Pavan Kumar Malapati, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ballari, Usha Padhee, IAS, Ex-Joint Secretary, Ministry of L Civil Aviation and PK Murugan, Chairman, JSW Steel Vijayanagar & Salem Works in the presence of officials/guests from Ballari Administration, Alliance Air and JSW Group. The official launch of air operations was preceded by a solemn lamp-lighting ceremony attended by all dignitaries.

The Prime Minister’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) has proven to be a convenient travel option for people in India. After realizing the noble intentions behind this ambitious UDAN program, JSW Group’s Jindal Vijayanagar Airport was the first private airport in the country to host flight operations during the launch of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s UDAN initiative and has welcomed more than one lakh of passengers in past three years.

Alliance Air is the only airline connecting Vidyanagar (Ballari and Vijayanagar districts) to Hyderabad and Bengaluru via the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) and is an active participant in the Government of India’s flagship UDAN initiative. Its new flights will not only boost the region, but the nation as a whole, by providing affordable air connectivity accessible to all.

The Ballari district and surrounding areas are important commercial and tourist destinations due to the presence of JSW Steel Ltd. and several other steel and mining players based in the region. It is also home to Hampi, the seat of the ancient Vijayanagar empire, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage wonder site in addition to the Daroji Bear Sanctuary and Interpretation Centre, iron ore mines from Sandur and Fort Ballari, to name a few.

This new destination linking Hyderabad with Hampi, Sandur, Ballari and other adjacent areas, will greatly facilitate international tourists and entrepreneurs, JSW said in a statement.

Jindal Vijayanagar Airport is a state-of-the-art airport. To further strengthen the existing facility, JSW Group has invested 48 crores over the past three years for airport expansion and runway upgrades. In addition, 12 crore is also being invested in improving passenger terminal facilities and security initiatives, which are expected to be completed within the next 6-8 months.
