As Ukraine continues to experience intense conflict and an emerging humanitarian crisis, the United States and the European Union have responded with remarkable resolve and unity. Already, the Russian invasion appears to be acting as a critical moment of change for Europeans and for the transatlantic relationship with the United States. Following its previous Honors Pulse panel on the war, the Honors College will host a panel of faculty experts to discuss the impact beyond Ukraine in Europe and America from 5-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 16 . The event will take place in the honors student lounge, and pizza and drinks will be served.
Members of the faculty panel will include:
- Burcu Bayram, Associate Professor of International Relations, Department of Political Science
- Alessandro Brogi, Professor of Diplomatic and Cold War History, Department of History
- Fiona Davidson, Associate Professor of European Geography, Department of Geosciences
- J. Laurence Hare, Associate Professor of European History, Department of History
“Our expert Fulbright College faculty bring interdisciplinary perspectives on the war in Ukraine to Honors College, exploring possible – and likely – impacts on Europe and the United States,” said Honors College Dean Lynda Coon. “You won’t want to miss this very busy event.”
This event is part of the Honors College Pulse discussion series, which began in 2016 after the presidential election and was named in remembrance of the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting. Since then, he has featured conversations about the Dakota Access Pipeline project, the legal ramifications and rulings related to hate crimes, and ways to address local hunger and poverty.
