Washington, DC, Feb. 15 Feb. 17, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — A $100,000 donation will be made Feb. 17 to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to support three historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) members of UNCF By William F. Pickard, Ph.D., Founder and Executive Chairman of Global Automotive Alliance (GAA) Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management. The presentation will take place on the campus of Clark Atlanta University, a member of UNCF.
Pickard’s donation includes donations to UNCF, Clark University in Atlanta, Saint Augustine University and Philander Smith College.
The donation is made by Pickard in honor of UNCF Board Chairman Milton H. Jones, Jr. for his leadership in helping Black students attend college and college. Pickard said he hopes his donation will encourage other donors, charitable foundations and businesses to join President Jones, and UNCF President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax, in supporting the UNCF and HBCUs to help Black students receive the financial resources they need to reach their college of dreams and a brighter future.

Clark University in Atlanta will use the grant for the development of the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship at the College of Business. St. Augustine University will increase the William F. Pickard School of Business Scholarship to support Bahamian undergraduate students. Philander Smith College is using the donation to support programs for Bahamian students to include recruitment.
Through his donation, Pickard becomes a member of the President’s Society of UNCF, which recognizes donations from individual donors.

About St. Augustine University
Affiliated with the Episcopal Church, St. Augustine University was established by 12 Episcopal priests to teach freedmen. Alumnus Henry Beard Delany, the first elected African-American bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States, led as a professor of carpentry and masonry at Saint Augustine University. Students enrolled in carpentry and masonry courses were required to build the college chapel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
