The United States Studies Center (USSC) at the University of Sydney is pleased to announce the appointment of the Centre’s new CEO, Dr. Michael Green, and the University’s Kirsten Andrews to its Board of Trustees. .
USSC Chairman of the Board, Mark Baillie, welcomed new USSC CEO, Dr. Michael Green, who is considered one of the world’s most renowned Indo-Pacific experts and brings to the consultancy unrivaled experience and knowledge of strategy and foreign policy.
“Under his leadership of the Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC, Mike developed one of the most comprehensive programs on US-Australia relations of any US think tank,” Mr. Baillie said. .
“We look forward to Mike leveraging his knowledge of Asia and the Indo-Pacific in Australia’s special closest ally alliance and increasing the Centre’s impact as we strive to continue to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.”
Also welcoming Ms Andrews, Mr Baillie acknowledged his experience at the University of Sydney as Chief of Staff to the Vice-Chancellor and his current role as Vice-Principal (External Relations).
“Kirsten’s expertise in external relations for the University in the areas of industry, government, communications and student recruitment supports the Center’s mission to increase and maximize the impact of our engagement with stakeholders.”
Mr. Baillie thanked outgoing board member Duncan Ivison, professor of political philosophy in the Department of Philosophy, for his service to the USSC. “Duncan was a representative of the University of Sydney as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) during his time with us and we are grateful for his significant contribution to our Board.”
