Bombay: Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said Shiv Sena was not stabbing anyone in the back as the party honored its commitments.
“The government of Maharashtra has pledged to be in power for five years. Shiv Sena keeps his promises. If anyone welcomes CM (future friend) remarks, let it be for three years. Shiv Sena does not stab anyone in the back, “he added. ANI quoted Raut as saying.
His clarification came after the remark by Maharashtra’s “future friend” of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to Union Minister and top BJP leader Raosaheb Danve sparked political speculation. “We have to understand what the chief minister said,” he said, attempting to clarify the remark from Thackeray, who is also the party’s leader.
“Those who were on stage and people from the Bharatiya Janata Party who say they shouldn’t be called ex-ministers can go to one of Maha Vikas Aghadi’s three parties,” Raut added.
CM Uddhav Thackeray addressed leaders, including Union Minister Raosaheb Danve, on Friday in a function as former and possible “future colleagues”, which has led to speculation as to whether a political realignment was in sight in the state.
Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, split from the BJP after the 2019 parliamentary elections and formed a government with the PCN and Congress.
